DECAMP BLUES (January 3, 2010)

Certainly, it is more difficult to evacuate than  to decamp (evict is a tempting synonym but not politically correct). However, in this Mayon episode, it is proving to be not that easy as we expected. Even with entitlements and enticements, many families found value in the food security and health security in the camps tempering their natural predisposition for going home. Thus, we had to assure the Mayon victims that the affirmative actions will merely shift venue from the camps to their villages.

Thanks for the 250 metric tons of rice for Mayon evacuees

The people of Albay thanks the World Food Program, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the UN family for the 250MT of rice which arrived 10am Sunday, January 3 at the Albay Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council. This will be distributed at 25kg per family of evacuees to provide them the food security in returning to their abodes and starting  a normal life.We are rapidly repacking them for distribution to Local Government Units and the villages.
